STAY, Success Teams Assisting Youth, is a collaborative effort between schools, families and youth service providers to reduce the number of suspensions and expulsions for Muskegon County students.
STAY follows the Restorative Philosophy which asks that students take responsibility for their actions. An action plan between the family, the school and youth serving agencies is developed to ensure the student does not commit another offense. The families are engaged in services for an undetermined period of time to assist them in changing behavior.
Mediation & Restorative Services acts as the facilitator in the process; After the school sends a referral, our office conducts the initial meeting and collaborates with the team members to set up the meeting to develop an action plan.
